THE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY-GENERAL

For the position of the secretary-general we have two strong contenders, this one is a bit interesting because unlike the other cases where both candidates are from the same class, that is not the situation here. On the one hand we have Luqman Ayokunle Oyinlola from 300 level popularly known as AY  and on the other hand Jimoh 'Saraki' Suleiman from 200 level who both enjoy cult like following among members of their respective classes. With both candidates having strong ties to the 400 level students all eyes will be on the 100 level students whose support could deal the deathblow to one party's aspirations and dreams and at the same time make that of the other.
This is going to be a keenly contested battle which would keep you on the edge of your seat.
DUTIES OF THE     SECRETARY GENERAL
SEC. 22 – (1) The Secretary General shall keep and maintain the Society’s secretariat.
(2) He shall, on the advice of the President or at the request of the members of the executive council, call for executive meeting and Congress subject to S. 39
(3) He shall be responsible for the society’s correspondences and souvenirs.
(4) He shall take and keep minutes of all executive council meetings.
(5) He shall prepare and submit a full report of all activities of the society to the House and to the Congress before the end of each semester.

Who is Adeitan?

Other than the fact that she was the new girl last session, what do you know about adeitan.
Adeitan as she is fondly called was born on the the 20th of November, she hails from offa kwara state. She lives in Kaduna state. She attended Panaf school kaduna
Adeitan is a 400 level student of the common law department. She transferred to Al-Hikmah University from Crescent University.
She writes poetry occasionally. All though she has only been here for so long, she has become a household name in the faculty. Adeitan is a very jovial person and is a movie fanatic plus she is a proud foodie

Adeitan is a candidate in the forthcoming elections of the Law Students Society, she is running for the office of the vice-president.

Profile of Zuwaira AbdulRahman

Zuwaira AbdulRahman Ibrahim (AMMY)was born on 24th September originally from Yobe state but was born and brought up in Maiduguri sometimes in the 90s  She attend Nigerian Turkish International college. Zuwaira is a good speaker and has won Alot of debates at various levels. Zuwaira loves dancing  cooking watching movies and reading books. She is a 400 level common law student with a passion for human rights law. Leadership is not new to Zuwaira as she was the class rep throughout her secondary school days. Zuwaira AbdulRahman Ibrahim (AMMY) is a vice presidential candidate of the law students society.

THE OFFICE OF THE VICE-PRESIDENT

For  the office of the vice-president, there are two contestants vying for the revered seat. The two
candidates being ;
Zuwairah Ibrahim
Adepoju Khadijat

This contest like the presidential election, would keep you on the edge of your seat as both contestants could be said to be Heavyweights with either of them having substantial support bases.

     DUTIES OF THE VICE PRESIDENT
SEC. 21 – (1) The Vice President shall entertain all academic complaints from members of the Society.
(2) He shall have powers to appoint members of academic committee, subject to the approval of the President.
(3) He shall exercise the powers of President in his absence.
(4) He shall perform such other duties as may be delegated to him by the Executive Council.

Profile of Alli Faruq Oluwatosin

Faruq Oluwatosin Alli was born on the 7th day of April in the late 90's.. He hails from Oyo state. Faruq Alli Can easily be spotted everywhere due to his conspicuous height and deep voice. He is a 400 level common law student, a poet and an award winning public speaker, he has spoken in different forums and the most popular one was the toastmasters public speaking competition where he emerged as the first runner up, he is the current Chamber head of the Equity chambers of the law students society. He was also a member of the First House of Representatives. Faruq is a very good basket baller, Faruq became the beacon of hope of a lot of Law students after his exceptional outing at the last manifesto. Faruq Alli has a very good sense of humor and a die hard fan of Chelsea FC.

Faruq Oluwatosin Alli is a candidate in the forthcoming Presidential elections of the law students society Al-Hikmah university chapter.

PROFILE OF AKINYEMI ABDUL-RAHMAN

Akinyemi Abdul-Rahman, popularly known as Captain was born on the 4th day of february sometime in the 90's and hails from  Irewole Local Government of Osun stateCaptain as he is fondly called by his peers is a 400 level student of the Common law department.He is also the Head of the Queen's chamber. Akinyemi is a poet and in his own words a romantic, he is known for his love for spoken words and supporting charitable causes.

Captain is quite the sportsman, he is an Expert Table Tennis player, he picked up the bronze medal at the Table tennis competition, which held during the inaugural law week which held in April 2017.He plays football occasionally, he was  a member of the Faculty's  football team which made it to the semi-final of the 2015/2016 Dean's Cup.Captain is a proud supporter of Tottenham FC. He would be representing the Faculty in Table Tennis at the coming LAWSAN Games holding at Osun state, which is also his state of origin and remains one of the Faculty's medal hopefuls.
'Ramoni' as he is sometimes called is a household name in the faculty of law and and is quite popular among both students and staffs of the faculty.
Akinyemi Abdul-Rahman is a candidate in the forthcoming presidential election of the Law Students Society, Al-Hikmah University Ilorin Chapter he is running for office on the platform of the 'FRESH' party.

THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

 The office of the president is established by section 19 of the constitution of the Society
                                                 THE PRESIDENT
SEC.19-(1) The president shall be a member from the most senior class at the time of the election, or the most senior class when there is a crash program
(2)He shall be the head of the executive council meetings and congress meetings.
(3)He shall coordinate the activities of the executive council in order to effectively achieve the aims and objectives of the society.
(4) He shall powers to refer any act of indiscipline of any executive officer(s) to the House through the Speaker.
(5) He shall have the power to give lawful directives to the members of the executive council in carrying out any of the society’s program, duties and functions etc.
(6) He  shall present or delegate to any member, the representation of the society in any engagement, save in academic programs, and shall report the proceedings of the same to the House through the Speaker within three school days of his return.
(7) He shall present the budget estimate to the House before the commencement of the fiscal year.
(8) He shall have powers to assent into law or veto bills duly passed by the House within 7 school days:
Provided where the President withholds his assent and the bill is again passed by the house by two-thirds majority, the bill shall become law and the assent of the President shall not be required.
(9) He shall be a signatory to the account(s) of the Society.
(10) He shall perform such other duties as may be incidental to his office.

QUALIFICATION TO THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
SEC. 20 – No person shall be qualified to contest to hold the office if;
His academic performance is less than 3.0 in the overall CGPA.
He fails to pay his annual dues as at when due.
He is liable of any civil wrong or guilty of any criminal offence within or without the college, three (3) years before the time of election.

ELECTIONS! ELECTIONS! ELECTIONS!

  Good day everyone, its been a while I must say we're glad to be back.
It's no longer news that the Law Students Society(LSS) elections are around the corner, you could tell by how tense the political athmosphere of the entire Atere is everyone trying to foster that last minute alliance which could well deal the death blow in the contest.
Elections would be held on Saturday the 6th day of April 2019 to elect officers of the society for the 2019/2020 Academic session.Elections would be conducted to fill the 10 Executive Council slots.
  The positions to be filled according to the constitutional hierarchy are as follows;

- President

- Vice - President

- Secretary-General

- Assistant Secretary-General

- Financial Secretary

- Treasurer

- Public Relations Officer (PRO)

- Welfare Director

- Social Director

- Sports Director.

     Elections would also be conducted to fill the 10 seats of the Society's legistlative arm.
